blackboxIT and RuleBurst announce reseller relationship

Partnership to combine legacy modernisation and natural language business rules

England, 3 July 2006 - blackboxIT, a leading supplier of software to identify business rules in legacy COBOL code, today announced a preferred reseller partnership with RuleBurst, a leader in rule articulation and deployment. This partnership will provide a more agile and cost effective solution for organisations requiring a modern and agile business rules approach to IT development, whilst leveraging their existing investments in legacy mainframe systems.

Traditionally, the task of combining new rules from business users, policies or regulations with existing rules from old mainframe systems has been a difficult and expensive challenge for IT development in markets such as government, finance and insurance. The problem has been caused by poor legacy documentation, the complexity and number of COBOL programs, and the very long periods of time over which these systems have grown and responded to changing requirements.

"The combined strength of the RuleBurst natural language interface and blackboxIT's emergeIT legacy rules solution reinforces the leadership position of both companies in the business rule sector," said Surend Dayal, Chief Executive Officer of RuleBurst. "Clients can now transfer rules and business knowledge seamlessly from legacy systems to next generation IT applications with the confidence that the technology solution is scalable and configurable.

"We are delighted that RuleBurst have chosen blackboxIT's emergeIT as the solution for rules capture from existing systems" commented David Goode, blackboxIT's CEO. "With the accelerating drive to allow business users to own and maintain rules at a business level, the partnership between our organizations offers an elegant yet pragmatic solution".
