RuleBurst selected for Microsoft Business Process Alliance

RuleBurst one of ten companies globally

Sydney, 27 February 2007 - RuleBurst, the world's fastest growing business rules management systems (BRMS) vendor, today announces its participation in the Microsoft Business Process Alliance, composed of the top software vendors delivering outstanding customer value through innovative business process solutions on the Microsoft platform. Australian-owned RuleBurst will be the only Asia-Pacific participant in the alliance.

The technologies available through the alliance augment Microsoft's business process management (BPM) technologies and vision for mainstream adoption of BPM through People-Ready processes that help enterprises automate their key business processes and associated human interactions. RuleBurst's platform, which helps users build rules for managing transactions, governance, risk and compliance, provides richer functionality for customers operating in highly regulated government, legal and financial services sectors.

RuleBurst, already a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is briefing the Microsoft sales teams around the world about its platform, and the two companies are actively working on joint customer opportunities globally.

The Australian company's inclusion in the Microsoft Business Process Alliance means that RuleBurst's natural language authoring tools will significantly extend the business rules authoring capability of Microsoft BizTalk Server.

Specifically, RuleBurst provides enhanced capabilities for business users to take advantage of the familiar Microsoft Office system environment - namely Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, and Microsoft Office Visio - to define natural language business rules in the authoring tools that they are already familiar using. Once the business requirements are defined using the rich capabilities in Microsoft Office, RuleBurst converts these natural language rules into the structured semantics that can be automated in the Microsoft BizTalk Server run-time environment.

Incorporating RuleBurst's technology enables a broader range of end users to use Microsoft technologies. Specifically, it enables users to apply the products to more complex rule definition scenarios such as government and regulatory environments.

In the past two years, RuleBurst's software has been included in high-profile implementations for the US Internal Revenue Service, HM Revenue and Customs in the UK, and Australia's Department of Immigration and Department of Finance and Administration. SAP is also integrating RuleBurst into its Industry Value Network alliance targeting the public sector.

RuleBurst's CEO, Dominic O'Hanlon comments, "Clearly, being included in an alliance of this global calibre is a great opportunity for RuleBurst. It means we have Microsoft's endorsement of our technologies and - on a more practical level - their tangible assistance in bringing our solution to potential customers."

"We believe this relationship will open RuleBurst to a whole new audience, especially in the fast growing financial services sector - which spent more than $9bn on business processing services last year alone," says O'Hanlon.

"Businesses of all sizes continue to demand innovative BPM solutions that help them efficiently manage their business processes," said Burley Kawasaki, group product manager in the Connected Systems Division at Microsoft Corp. "The Business Process Alliance is designed to expand BPM solutions for businesses nearly anywhere in the world."
