Activity 2: Model and Understand the Rules
Typically, the second step in developing a business rule management system using Haley Expert Rules is modeling the concepts that make up the rules in the Business Concept Model so that Haley Expert Rules may understand how the concepts relate to one another. With this understanding, Haley Expert Rules:
- Gives users guidance on which rules are unambiguous and grammatically correct,
- Enables users to create use cases for single instance and regression testing,
- Automatically generates rules code for use by HaleyRules.
To create the Business Concept Model, simply:
- Itemize each concept that appear in the statements
- Define the relationships between the concepts through simple drag-and-drop
Users are provided immediate real-time feedback on items that are "understood" and unambiguous when they appear bold in the statement dialogs.
